Merry Christmas!

We have SO much to be thankful for this year. It is so special to have a little guy to share this special holiday with. While we share all our family traditions with Crockett and try to teach him the REAL reason for the season, please know that our thoughts and warmest wishes are with all of you this season as well. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to everyone!

Crockett and I got in the Christmas spirit this morning and went to the Holliday Christmas parade! It was his 1st parade, and although it was loud and he wasn't quite sure what to think, I think he enjoyed it! The weather was chilly, but not nearly as freezing as it has been the past week. We met up with Uncle Casey, Aunt Amie, Kayleigh, Emily and Nathalie, Sue, Andy and Tommy (Amie's mom and her grandsons)! Uncle Casey is always so excited to see Crockett... I think he is just happy to have another boy around! :) There were quite a few floats and cool cars and all of them were throwing candy for the kids. They were so excited! Once the girls had picked up all the candy around us, we headed to the elementary school to go see Santa! He was on two floats and made it to the school... he is one quick fellow :) Crockett and I shared a donut... he LOVED it, of course! Santa.... not so much! He was not sure what to think, looking back and forth from Santa to me. Then he broke out into a full blown cry. So maybe next time :) Hopefully Santa will not hold it against him and still bring him some good stuff this year :) He really has been a good boy!!! I guess we will try it again another time!

Dad and his sweet guy

Last Saturday, December 5, was special day for a special person in my life... My Aunt Susan turned 60!! Chris, Crockett and I packed up and headed South to the big city to help celebrate :) Aunt Susan is known in my dad's family for her cooking and catering skills... she never comes without shrimp, barbecue, or her awesome chocolate chip cookies! She is ALWAYS in charge of cooking for birthdays, get-togethers and pretty much every family event, so for her birthday, everyone decided to keep her OUT of the kitchen! For once she got to put her feet up, relax and enjoy her day! Dinner was catered by a chef out of Dallas at Aunt Anne's house. The food was so yummy and the italian cream birthday cake was DELICIOUS! We all had so much fun getting to celebrate such a special day with her. She has always been so supportive of me and is one of the people I know I can always call or talk to. I love spending time with her, although it doesn't happen nearly often enough anymore! It is so important to me, now, that Crockett gets to know her and have her in his life. He already LOVES his Aunt Susan too :) It was so good to see everyone and celebrate such a special birthday!!

NOVEMBER... Where did you go??

I am not sure how I managed to get SO FAR BEHIND, but I did! The month of November came and went in such a hurry... So much happened and we have been so busy, that I did not take the time to document everything that was going on. I am always so excited for this time of the year, and this year, since it is Crockett's 1st EVERYTHING, I am even more excited :) During November we went to visit our family in Lubbock. Crockett and Braidy actually played a little bit... chased each other around the table and actually noticed each other. I have a feeling Christmas will be a very exciting time for these two cousins! We went to the park with the Curry's and fed the ducks and played at the playground... I can't believe I left my camera at home! We had such a good time and Lulu got her Crockett fix for a few weeks! It is difficult not being closer, but it makes our visits even more special!

Crockett had his 1st Thanksgiving! We stayed here and went to Grandmaw Elwanda's for lunch. Rachy, celebrated this Thanksgiving with us and was so helpful to have around.... I could definately get used to having her here :) It was a small group at Elwanda's this year, Chris, Crockett and I, Rach, Elwanda and Grandma Welch (Elwanda's mother & Crockett's great, great grandmother who is 98!) but it was very special! Crockett looked so cute in his new outfit and loved getting to eat all the big kid food :) He had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, some turkey... he was one FULL baby when he got done! It was such a nice day and such a wonderful way to remind us how much we have to be THANKFUL for!

Crockett also had his 8 MONTH BIRTHDAY!!! I know I say it every month, but, WOW! It seems as if each month just goes by faster and faster. Crockett is now crawling, actually crawling, not doing the "seal walk" everywhere! Boy, is he fast! He is pulling up onto everything and has gotten very good at falling on his bottom. I think my heart stops a little everytime I think he is going to fall, but he has gotten better. I guess that is part of the learning process. He said his 1st word.... drum roll, please... MAMA!!!! It was pretty funny. Chris and I kind of looked at each other when we heard it (my heart was melting :) So now we are working on dadadada... He is such a big boy, about 20 lbs and growing by leaps and bounds daily. We still are not sleeping through the night and I can get a little frustrated with him, but I wake up in the morning and look at him and realize I love him more than I did the day before... even after being up half the night! That is LOVE! He is the greatest gift Chris and I have every been given and so this holiday season, we are so thankful that the Lord blessed us with this child. It really changes everything.

FUN AUNT RACHY!!

We were so lucky to have Rachy come visit us last week! She came on halloween and stayed until Wednesday. She was so great to have around. While we took Crockett out for halloween, she cooked spaghetti for us and had dinner all ready when we got home. Chris and I had so much fun talking and laughing with Rach... maybe too much fun :) All week she was an extra pair of hands, eyes, ears, and she helped me rock Crockett, cook, shop, load/unload the car and entertain. It was wonderful! A girl could definately get used to that! Crockett also had so much fun with his Auntie... she did all the "fun auntie" things like share her tea (thank goodness it was decaf! He LOVED it!), give him bites, get him out of bed when mommy thought he should be napping! She could get him laughing and talking ~ I had so much fun just watching! I just love my littlest sister and am so glad she came to visit us! We love you and you are welcome back anytime you want!

Happy Halloween!!

I took his sucker away!

Sitting all by himself!

Crockett (and his sucker) and his new cousin, Rich

Crockett (and his sucker :) and Grandmaw

Crockett and Daddy with Hotshot

Crockett and all the cousins (He was chasing Nattie :)

For Crockett's 1st halloween, I searched and searched for the PERFECT costume. I finally found it ~ He was my lil pony! He looked so cute and it was just hilarious when he would crawl around with his little tail :) We didn't do anything too exciting, but we did go visit Grandmaw and all the cousins. Kayleigh was a witch (a nice one!), Emily was a dancer, Nattie was a ladybug and baby Rich was a sleepy cow! They all looked SO cute! I cannot imagine what the holidays will be like next year! Then we went to see Hotshot and MaryAnn. On the way to their house, Chris got pulled over by the DPS... I think Crockett got him out of the ticket! He thought Crockett looked so cute and so Daddy only got a warning :) By the time we got to their house, he was a little tired of the costume and it had to come off. He had enough and we paid for it most of the way home! Luckily, Elwanda had given all the grandkids suckers and Crockett had managed to tear a little hole in the wrapper... it saved us on the way home! He was very excited about the sucker! We kept it just in case we ever needed it :) We had a fun night and I know everyone loved MY LIL PONY!

Dear God,

Thank you so much for our sweet baby boy. We are thankful for him each and every day and have been so blessed to watch him grow in so many ways over the last seven months. If you wouldn't mind, please make time slow down... just a little bit.

7 Super Months!!

I know I say this every single month, but, WOW! I cannot believe he is 7 months old! Each month seems to go by faster and faster ~ and my sweet baby is just getting more fun with each passing day! He is army crawling like a mad man... he can crawl on all fours, but gets around much faster the other way. Wherever Saydi is at the time is usually where he is headed. She has been very good about this and even lets him steal her ball... I think she thinks he is going to throw it for her! Crockett knows how to play "patty cake" and I swear he will say something along the lines of "cake" when he starts to clap his hands. It is the cutest thing, he gets very proud of himself! He is also playing peek-a-boo! He loves it when I cover my face, but I love it even more when he covers his face and waits for me to say "PEEK-A-BOO"!!! He is so much fun :) He loves his mommy and doesn't want me to leave, but he LOVES it when his daddy gets home. His favorite toy is anything electronic... phones, remotes, cameras; he loves to eat anything with fruit in it (no wonder they say veggies first!), he is wearing 9 month clothes but can still fit in a few 6 months, they are just really tight on the belly! He is wearing size 3 diapers. He can sit by himself, but doesn't do it often because he is almost always reaching for his feet! This made taking his picture with my little '7 months' sign VERY difficult! Crockett is one of the most talkative children when he is at home, but if he is around strangers, he gets pretty timid. It also seems as if he might be a bit dramatic... I am still not sure where he gets this trait :) He is still not sleeping through the night in his own bed, but we are currently working on that and are very hopeful! Ha ha!
I never imagined I could love someone this much, but I do... and I know my love for him will grow and grow. Can't wait to see what the next month brings :)

Silly Daddy!

Every Tuesday night I play tennis in a ladies doubles leauge. I always look forward to my one baby-free night out of the house. Lately, though, it has been a bit difficult for Chris... Crockett is now in the phase where he is very fussy when Mommy is not there to bathe, put him to sleep or feed him ~ I guess it is separation anxiety beginning to kick in. I know it is good for him to have some Daddy-time, but the other night he got very fussy and in trying to quickly get him ready for bed, Chris grabbed the 1st pajamas that he could find, got him dressed and to sleep before I got home. (He is so great :) When I got home, I went in to check on him and looked at him... his legs were only half covered and something didn't look quite right. This is what I found...

I DIED laughing! I had tears streaming down my face.... It was the funniest thing!!! Chris had grabbed a little gown I was going to let his cousin's newborn son use. It is teeny-tiny and is for babies UP TO 7LBS! No wonder it was so short and squeezing his chubby little legs :) I can't believe my 20 lb. 7 month old baby fit into this nighty! It sure was funny though! I love you, Chris.

Crockett and Uncle Logan

Crockett and Grandpa

Auntie Rae Rae did this!!

Last weekend, Crockett and I packed up and headed South for T-Pa's 88th birthday celebration! We drove to Dallas, picked up Rachy and then went to the airport to get Mon and Braidy! It was so much fun for the three of us, plus our boys, to be together. We went to Chipotle for lunch and then to Sprinkles (YUMMY!) for dessert! I got the best pumpkin cupcake EVER and I even shared a little with Crockett! I think he is going to have my sweet tooth :) We met Dad and Jan for lunch on Saturday and then us girls set out to NorthPark for a little retail therapy. I love to shop and I must say, shopping with 2 babies, in the most crowded mall ever, is NOT fun! I didn't get anything, lost my sister and baby for about 30 minutes (and FREAKED OUT!) and missed nap time... definately not worth it! Next time I am going by myself :)

Saturday evening we all went to T-Pa's party. Almost the whole family was there (that doesn't happen very often!), the food was WONDERFUL and it was so much fun to catch up! Aunt Susan did ALL of the cooking and definately out-did herself... I think T-Pa and Braidy enjoyed the shrimp the most, but we were all STUFFED when we left! The cake was SO good!! I think Grandpa shared some of that with Crockett too :) I think one of the highlights of the evening (besides the birthday boy!) was when Braidy went missing... we couldn't find him anywhere! I finally looked in the guest bathroom, even though the light was off and the door was mostly shut... and what did I find??? BRAIDY pulling every bit of toilet paper off of the roll and onto the floor! It was the funniest thing ~ I died laughing!! Luckily, I found him BEFORE all of it went into the toilet! Monica is afraid she will never be invited back.... I know she is wrong :)

It was such a great celebration and I know T-Pa loved every minute of it! We love you very much and are so lucky to have your as our grandpa and great-grandpa!

Lubbock or Leave It

A couple of weekends ago, Crockett and I headed west to Lubbock for a little visit. This is a very busy time of the year for Chris so he wasn't able to join us this time (plus, we went in the middle of the week :). We didn't really have anything on the itenerary, but we managed to find a few things! LuLu had to work on Friday so Crockett and I met Monica and Braidy for lunch at SugarBakers (my FAVE!!). It was delicious :) Braidy ate the icing off of a cookie and Monica and I somehow made room for a mississippi mud brownie after our Santa Barbara sandwiches! Poor Crockett got a little left out, but he did sit in a big boy highchair! (I feel like he will probably make up for it next time we go since he is now eating just about anything!) It was beautiful outside so we took all 3 boys in the backyard to play and swing.... they all got so dirty, but had a blast! John had farm day at school that day, so he was asking me lots of questions about Chris' tractors. It was SO cute! That night, LuLu got to feed Crockett peas, which he ate all gone for her... although he did gag several times and she even got to see him in motion! Still no forward action, but he was definatley moving! We all watched the Tech game on Saturday... They WON!! All the boys were decked out in their Tech best :) I tried to get a picture, with John's help... but getting Braidy and Crockett to sit still for longer than about 5 seconds is impossible! On Sunday, one of my best friends, Valerie, came by to see Crockett and I before we headed back home. We always have such a great time catching up and seeing each other. She is such a special person to me. I was definately ready to go home by Sunday... I just hate being away from Chris for too long, and I know he hates being away from us. We always have such a great time in Lubbock and enjoy spending time with our family and friends!
