Happy 7th Birthday to Johnny!

My nephew, John, turned 7 on April 8! He has grown up so quickly. When I met him he was about 2... so hard to believe so much time has passed! He has grown into such a smart, talented, athletic and FUN young man! Crockett thinks he is the COOLEST and cannot wait until Johnny is home so they can play. We went to John's party at Main Event and had a BLAST! All the kids got to bowl, eat pizza and cake, and play games. It sure was wild, but they all had a great time! We love you dearly, John, and are so proud of the young man you are becoming!

Easter

Easter was several weeks ago, but I still wanted to blog about our special day. We had a wonderful day celebrating the resurrection of Christ with the ones we love. Poppa surprised Crockett with a special Easter basket filled with all kinds of goodies. He was so excited! We all got dressed in our Sunday best and went to Church with the Curry's at Experience Life. It was a great, uplifting service. After church was over, Poppa had to leave. We were sad to say goodbye, but we had SO MUCH FUN while he was here! For lunch we, with the Curry's, went to brunch at the Overton. Right when we walked in, we saw the Easter bunny! The boys were pretty excited to see him and get a special egg, but Quinny did not share their enthusiasm :) We all ate TONS of yummy food. The boys were even pretty well behaved... and you really never know how that is going to turn out! After lunch, we went to our house to hunt Easter eggs. They boys had such a great time, and helped each other find LOTS of eggs.... then they opened them all and ate the chocolate treats :) I think Saydi even got a few treats! It's a wonder they didn't get stomach aches! It was a fun, special day.

Poppa comes to town!

Last week we were so excited to have Poppa and JJ come visit! JJ was so excited because her granddaughter, Carsyn, FINALLY made her BIG arrival. We saw JJ a little bit, but she was a tad bit preoccupied (as she should be :)! Poppa stayed with the Curry's a couple of nights and with us a couple nights, but the boys were SO excited to have him here! He took Crockett to pick out his birthday gift. Crockett thought it was so COOL to go to the TOY STORE! He picked out an EXCAVATOR that he can ride and dig with. It is right up his alley! I think Poppa learned quite a bit about tractors this week! Popppa also took Braidy and Crockett to feed the ducks one afternoon. The boys had SO much fun! They fed the ducks SO much bread and even found a duck egg....

Funny story....
Braidy insisted on taking the duck egg home. He said he was going to put it under a light and take REALLY good care of it! Somehow I ended up bringing the duck egg home and I put it in a tupperware dish so we could take it to Braidy's mommy and daddy :) When we finally walked Braidy home, he wanted to carry it and was so careful. He held it with 2 hands and walked very slowly. When we walked in the door, Braidy went straight to the kitchen to show his daddy what he had found. I am not sure how thrilled his daddy was, but somehow in all the excitement, Braidy hit Crockett's shoulder with the tupperware and OUT FELL THE EGG! I was laughing so hard, Quin was trying to get in the "juice" and Ryan was trying to clean up the mess.... and then I looked at Braidy.... I have never seen him look so sad. He was on the verge of tears. We out the egg in the trash can and he just stared in the trash can, like we had thrown away his favorite toy. It was heart-breaking. I told Braidy that the baby duck was in Heaven now, with all the other baby ducks and that was a much better place. He seemed to be ok with that. It was the funniest/saddest incident I have witnessed in a LONG time!

The boys had such a great time with Poppa. They really played hard and made the most of their time together. Poppa ended the weekend by going to Church with all of us on Easter and giving the boys their Easter baskets. It was such a great week and we can't wait until the next time they come!

Big Brother Crockett

Last weekend Chris and I took Crockett for the 'Sibling Tour' at Covenant. We are getting close enough and I wanted to make a big deal of Crockett becoming a big brother to baby Bowen, so this was the perfect opportunity. We showed up, and Crockett was SO EXCITED to see his LuLu! She just happened to be working this weekend.

We got up to the room and Mrs. Hollie had each of the siblings say their name, if they were having a girl or boy and their baby's name. Crockett was a teeny bit shy, can't blame him, but he did such a great job! Next, they got a stuffed monkey that is going to be their gift to their baby. They had to hold the monkey tight, close their eyes and make a wish for their baby... Not sure what Crockett wished for Bowen, but I will always remember this...

The siblings got t-shirts for the monkey and dressed them.

Next, all the siblings went to the middle of the room to sing "Happy Birthday' to their baby brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hollie explained to them that when they come to the hospital, it will be to see their baby on their 'birth'day. Crockett loves to sing 'Happy Birthday', so this was one of my favorite parts :)

Crockett learned how to hold the baby. Mrs. Hollie to the kids that they had to be SO careful to hold their head. Crockett did such a great job! He told the baby, "It's ok baby" and patted his head. He really liked his hat too.

We went on a tour of the hospital to see where momma would go when she has baby Bowen and were we would stay after he arrived. Crockett even got to see some babies in the nursery. Before we left, Crockett got a certificate of completion. He is ready to be a BIG BROTHER!

We had so much fun at the 'Sibling Tour' and learned a lot! Mrs. Hollie was so good with the kids and made the kids understand why becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister is something very special. Crockett is going to be such a great big brother and great helper for momma. I know he will love baby Bowen and have so many wonderful, fun things to teach him!

Easter Egg Hunt!

Crockett had an Easter egg hunt at KDO this week and Chris and I were lucky enough to get to go watch. It was pretty funny :) Crockett found his first egg and would have been happy to open it and eat what was inside, instead of going and collecting more. He ended up getting lots of eggs and only had a couple of crashes with his friends! It was like they all went after the same one each time! There were lots of eggs out there, but it only took about 5 minutes for the kids to grab them all. It was LOTS of fun and great practice for more hunts to come this weekend!
