Oklahoma is O.K.!

Last weekend my mom and I decided it was time to take a little trip to Weatherford, OK, one of my favorite places. Crockett needed to go see his Uncle Tim, Aunt Darla, Meredith and Kathryn and meet my Papo's dear friend, Sheila (who is now MY dear friend) and it has been two years since my sweet Papo went to Heaven (Sept. 17)... basically, it was just the right time to go for a little visit. We drove up on Sat. a.m. and Crockett slept the WHOLE way, which NEVER happens!! So I was really proud of him! First, we stopped by the cemetary to spend a few minutes. I always go back there when we visit... it is such a peaceful place. After that we went to the museum to visit Sheila, where she volunteers, and she was just thrilled to meet C! We took pictures on the rocking buffalo and caught up. She is such a sweet lady and is so special to me. Then, after a little shoe therapy, we went back to the Lowry's for a delish dinner of steaks (cooked perfectly by Mere), lots of fresh veggies and the yummiest strawberry cake! It was SO GOOD :) It was such a fun night hanging out with family, watching the TTU v UT game (which was surprisingly good :), playing with the baby... We all had so much fun and are so thankful for our family. Weatherford is such a special place for me... I have so many wonderful, special memories there. I am glad we were able to take Crockett and introduce him to some special people there. I know he will love to go play on the farm with his Uncle Tim when he gets older... just like I did.... And still do.
When we got back to our house on Sun. evening, LuLu stayed one more night with us. I really wanted (no, was CRAVING) more strawberry cake, so we made one :) While I was not watching, LuLu gave Crockett his first beater with strawberry cake mix on it! Needless to say, he LOVED it. When he had almost all of the mix licked up, I took the beater from him... he SCREAMED.... it was dramatic.... I mean nothing came out of his mouth for about 30 seconds, but his mouth turned blue and his face was red. He was NOT happy! I think she created a monster :) It was pretty funny! He was SO mad at me!!! We loved having our LuLu here. I am so glad she got to see how much fun Crockett is becoming. It is hard not living closer, but I treasure the days when she is here! It was a great weekend! Can't wait to do it again!!

SIX MONTHS OLD!!!

Oh my goodness!!! I cannot believe half a year has passed since Crockett Christopher turned our world upside down (In the best way possible!). Chris and I could not be more in love with our little man, and that love just grows each day. It seems like everyday he just a little more boy than baby.... which makes me a little sad, but I just LOVE this stage.

Crockett,

  • You roll over all the time... it is getting harder and harder to change diapers and get you dressed!
  • You grab at EVERYTHING! Nothing is safe, and most of it goes straight into the mouth!

  • You have your two front bottom teeth! They grow a little bit everyday... but I still can't quite get a picture of them.

  • We started food on Sept. 23. Your first veggie was sweet potatoes, which I think you liked because you kept wanting bites, but you gagged after each one... SO funny!

  • It is my fault, but you are sleeping with mommy and daddy. We will break this habit soon, but there is nothing better than snuggling with you after a long day. This must end soon...

  • You are wearing mostly 6 month clothes, but some are starting to get a little snug.

  • You weighed 18 lbs 11 oz (60th percentile) and are 26.5 in (55th percentile) at your last Dr. appt

  • You got sick for the 1st time with baby bronchitis... it was awful. Mommy and Daddy were so worried about you!

  • You can't crawl yet, but you get your feet under you and want to go REALLY bad!! You can move backwards... I guess this is God's way of warning me :)

  • You are VERY talkative and sociable and smiley, as long as you are familiar with those around you... It seems you might be a little shy around strangers (and that is ok with me!)

  • Saydi is your favorite "person" in the house! She makes you laugh and laugh even if you are upset at the moment... sometimes she is the only one that can make you stop crying!

  • You are sitting up by yourself for small increments of time. You can't get into the sit-up position by yourself yet, but you sure want to!

These are just a few of the wonderful things you are doing at 6 months! You are so much fun to watch... it is really amazing seeing how far you have come since you were an itty-bitty newborn! I know the next few months will go by so quickly, and in case I forget to tell you, these 6 months have been the BEST days of our lives. God blessed us so greatly when he gave you to us.... I stand in awe everyday. You are a precious boy and we can't wait to see all the ways you will grow in the next 6 months. Happy 6 month birthday, my sweet little boy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

For Chris's 29th birthday, I wanted to do something really special.... so I finally decided to surprise him with a little trip down south to Buffalo Gap! His favorite place to eat, Perini's Steakhouse, is there and they just happen to have the cutest, most quaint and peaceful guest quarters on the ranch, so we stayed the night! There is a beautiful porch where you can sit and watch the deer, turkeys, raccoons, and all the other wildlife. It was wonderful, even with a five month old! (But next time he will stay home :) I took a delicious cake with us and gifts and we celebrated all day long! It was lots of fun and I can't wait to do it again!
Chris,
We are so lucky to have such a wonderful husband and Daddy! You work so hard for our family and we can't tell you enough how thankful we are! Happy 29th Birthday Papa Bear, and thank you for all you do for us. We love you SO much!
