HaPpY HaLlOwEeN!!!
We celebrated Halloween last night by going to First Baptist Church - Holliday for their Fall Festival. It was quite an ordeal getting Mr. Crockett dressed up... I later found out he was not feeling well AT ALL. We tried on the monkey suit 1st... He HATED it. Next, we tried the horsey suit that still fits from last year... Cried and cried. Finally, we settled on dressing up like a farmer - plaid shirt, overalls, boots and a cowboy hat. He was happy, I was happy, it was time to go!
Elwanda met us up there and took Crockett around to all the booths. He was a little timid at first, but once he saw some cars racing on a track, he livened up quite a bit! There was a fishing booth, a musical chairs, putt-putt (where he got a HOLE IN ONE!! with a little help :), face painting, bean bag toss, and a couple others. He got lots of cookies and candy and a couple other little prizes. At one booth, he picked a bracelet and immediately put it on his wrist... I thought it was so funny that he would pick that from everything he had to choose from and then to know what to do with it! I was astonished. I can only figure that this is something he has learned at school??? :) We had a great time and ate a hot dog and some cheetoes before we called it a night. I feel so fortunate to live in a community with so many wonderful, kind, Christian people. Everyone really goes out of their way to make things special for the children and families that live here.
We had planned to go trick-or-treating with Cade "Frankenstein" Luig tonight, but at 4:00a.m. this morning, Crockett woke up with a 101.7 fever. We went to the doctor and learned that the head cold and cough he has had for a couple of weeks has turned into bronchitis and an ear infection in both ears, with a touch of asthma. Boo! We went ahead and went to lunch at Grandmaw's house as we had planned since Kelly and Trisha were in town. Kelly has not seen Crockett since last Christmas (except in pictures) so she couldn't believe how BIG he has gotten! It was great to see them both! Crockett had a good time and was very happy to see them too! I think he is feeling a little bit better, but I hate that we missed out on trick-or-treating this year!
Hope everyone has a very safe and fun Halloween!!
